Rare Swiss Design Jingzi Ceiling Lamps, Herzog & De Meuron, for Belux, 2000s
About the Item
The Jingzi lamp (produced by Belux Switzerland) draws its inspiration from the organic shape of a suspended droplet and emerged from the design process for the lighting and hanging plants at the Kunsthalle Café in Fünf Höfe (Five Courtyards) located in Munich City Centre.
The Jingzi lamps are made of a raw silicone material, featuring trapped air bubbles that diffuse a soft and ambient light. Each silicone lamp sleeve is meticulously handcrafted, resulting in a unique piece. Since the lamps are made of silicon, they feel rubbery to the touch and can be squeezed and grabbed.
About the designers:
Herzog and De Meuron are two renowned architects from Switzerland. They are known for their innovative approach and bold designs in creating iconic buildings worldwide. Some of their notable works include the Beijing National Stadium, Tate Modern in London, and Allianz Arena in Munich.
