About the Item

Marvelous French Art Deco pendant light. This beautifully handcrafted and atmospheric light fixture from the 1920s is another perfect example showing that the French probably were the best designers and manufacturers when it comes to early 20th century lighting. Their designs have an elegance and the materials they used are of a quality that you could not find anywhere else in the world, not in those days anyway. When we recently first saw this fixture we immediately named it the melting ice chandelier. Both in the bronze parts (including the canopy), in the curved glass panels, but also in the petals of the icy flowers you can see the stylized manner in which the artist is showing us how gravity is pulling the melting ice down. The cold bronze and the white glass are the perfect materials to express this proces in nature and we immediately knew we wanted to own this excellent condition antique. With as much as nine bulbs inside the beautiful glass this practical size chandelier radiates a marvelous light which makes it ideal for usage in your living room, a large kitchen area or over your dining table. In our photos one of the lights is not working, but this chandelier too will be professionally rewired for safe and immediate usage the world over.
