Suspension Osaka, Roberto Pamio, Leucos 1965
About the Item
The pendant "Osaka" is part of the earliest design of the brand Leucos.
The designer is, nonetheless, the founder of the brand, Roberto Pamio.
You can see the parallel between this model, the Gill and the Medusa. All of them have become iconic pieces of the brand.
Leucos showroom is based in Scorzé, near Venice, their furnace are on the Island of Murano, in the laguna of Venice. Their aim is " In the world of mass production they always present the touch of human hands".
Their designers are considered as "Glass architect" and their glass blowers "Venitian glass maestro".
This piece is described as "swinging-lamp of white glass trimmed with a crystal glass band" (p38 Cataloguo 1976 Leucos)
The technique behind this piece is even more impressive than the purity of the design.
Using the technique of Somerso, the globe if firstly blown in clear glass, then the end is deeped in white glass. The globes is then transfered to another punty to deep the other side in the white fusion glass up to leave this clear glass strippe in the middle. They then process to the opening. Mastering those movements with the incredible heat of the furnace takes skills.
The lenght of the cable can be adapted to your needs.
