Unique Dutch Arts & Crafts Brass Pendant Light With Rare Tin Crackle Globe Shade

About the Item

Marvelous design and truly unique Dutch Arts and Crafts pendant. With early 20th century light fixtures being one of our specialities, finding an Arts and Crafts pendant as unique as this always makes our heart jump. Every designer knows that getting a truly striking design on paper is very difficult, but finding the right artisans to perfectly execute it is at least as big of a challenge. In this case the maker(s) must have been at the top of their game, because the execution and the finish of this truly beautiful pendant is simply marvelous. Over the many decades the color (or patina) has made this light even more beautiful and this elegant design after more than 100 years still is as appealing as the day it was made. What makes this Arts and Crafts pendant light stand out from anything we have ever seen is the tin crackle, art-glass globe shade. It was around the same era that designer and glass artist Copier started experimenting with this (then) latest technique in glass decoration and the prices for some of his (and that of other designer's) tin crackle glass vases over the decades have increased immensely. Just to give you a better idea of its rarity, we have never before seen a light fixture from these earliest years of the 20th century with such a tin crackle glass shade and this stunning specimen is in perfect condition. Because these are two very different 'disciplines', we believe that this unique light fixture must have been a collaboration between two of the Dutch best designers and makers. Unfortunately we lack the knowledge and reference books to be able to tell you who they were. This super rare, but regular size pendant survived two world wars and for the unique tin crackle shade to be of museum quality and condition makes it even more special and desirable. The brass gallery (including the shade holder, the rods and the large canopy) are no longer in perfect condition, but even with the minor bendings in the brass elements this still is one of the most striking Dutch Arts and Crafts pendants that money can buy. If you have an Arts and Crafts house or if you are a collector of this sophisticated, early 20th century style then this unique pendant could be gracing your living space soon. For us, this is the ideal size AND design pendant for an entrance or any other (relatively small) living space that has the ambition to become truly stylish. If you like this one of a kind light as much as we do and if you already have a space in mind for it then maybe you should be its next custodian(s). It is rewired to the highest standard for safe and immediate usage in the USA as well and our price even includes perfect packing and also worldwide delivery from our store to your door in just 4 to 6 days. Maximum height x diameter: 31.5 x 9.25 inches. Diameter of the unique and large brass canopy: 8.45 inches. Height of this art glass pendant WITHOUT the brass rod and canopy: 17 inches. We have a passion for the unique, for quality, for stylish yet practical and for craftsmanship of years gone by. Your purchases will be extremely well packaged and we look forward to serving you (again). You can shop all our 1000+ listings by pushing the button that reads 'View All From Seller'.
