About the Item

This handcrafted gold-infused cristallo Murano chandelier has five arms holding bobeches with petal-shaped trim and a bulbous center column with rigaree trim. The golden details are concentrated on the flowers and trim details, bringing attention to the delicate petal ornamentation. The glass-houses on the island of Murano are famous for highly ornamented glass chandeliers made of pincered and molded blown glass. This elegant chandelier showcases a mastery of such Venetian glass craftsmanship. This 1960’s chandelier is in the ‘Ca'Rezzonico’ style of chandeliers created by Giuseppe Briati in the 18th century. The ‘Ca'Rezzonico’ style is named for the Venetian palace, today a public museum dedicated to 18th century Venice, where Briati’s initial masterpiece resides. The body and arms of this piece are made of clear, colorless Venetian glass enhanced with 24-carat gold leaf. The subtle glints of gold mimic the look of sunbeams when lit. Otherwise, the translucent crystalline glass blends with any color palette. This piece demonstrates a Baroque-style design with a unique combination of structural and decorative elements, resulting in a shimmering floral centerpiece. Rewired: Rewired to meet US electrical standards. It takes five base-size bulbs, incandescent or LED. Each light bulb can use up to a maximum of 60 watts. It requires a canopy and chain. Three feet of wire at the top can be adjusted to the desired height. Wear consistent with age and use. No chips, or cracks in the glass. Requires special handling and shipping by an experienced white glove service experienced in dismantling, packaging, and reassembling upon installation.
