About the Item
An awesome pair of industrial strip lights made in England by GEC - General Electric Company. c.1940
Imposing flameproof alloy strip lights with glass tube. Salvaged from a car paint workshop in north England. Stamped with the GEC makers mark. Price is per light.
Rewired with 1m black round flex and suspension wire.
We also have three of these in a 5ft bulb length.
The General Electric Company, often shortened to GEC, was formed in 1886 in Britain and were a powerhouse in the development, design and manufacture of electrical components including defence electronics, communications, engineering and most notably lighting for various sectors. GEC produced street lighting, flameproof (FLP) rated factory lighting, airfield lighting and even shop window display lamps branded as GecoRay. They were transformed by the outbreak of WWI and went on to produce electrical equipment used right through the war.
