1940s Steel "Astrolabes" Lampstand Attributed to Gilbert Poillerat
About the Item
A rare and unusual modernist iron lampstand, fashioned as a column with multiple ribs and collars and a central Astrolabe, standing on a tripod of scroll legs and surmounted by a stylized globe with a ribbed cup above. Attributed to Gilbert Poillerat.
The use of the globe as a motif is seen regularly throughout Poillerat's output. All details of this lamp lead towards the hand of Poillerat.
