About the Item
Large and impressive ceramics floor/ table lamp handmade at "HPK keramik" workshop in Denmark in the 1930s. The conical base is made from stoneware with an amazing matte burned glazing running down the vessel. Signed underneath: "HPK keramik, Denmark". The lamp is a wonderful mix of modern elements and art nouveau inspiration. In the style of other Danish workshops such as "Hjort" and "Ipsens Enke". Mounted with new flax linen shade.
Hans Peter Knudsen started up the studio Rødeled, and for more than 100 years, the Knudsen family ran the studio near Præstø in Denmark. This table lamp was handmade by his son Hans Jørgen Knudsen and signed by him "Hans J".

Thomas. The factory also participated in the big World Exhibitions in Altona 1869, London 1870 and 1874 as well as New Orleans 1885.
