Eliz Evar is a Slovenian architect and furniture designer based in Hamburg, Germany. During her studies and after graduating as an architect, she worked independently as well as part of a team on a number of exciting international architectural projects, where she also learned about the needs and wishes of the clients in terms of furniture. She has always been drawn to product design, so after finishing her studies, she started assisting in the woodworking shop, where she learned the basics of the craft and created her first furniture pieces. During this period, she tried her hand at different fields, from interior design to handbag design, where she realized that one of her favorite materials to work with was fabric. This strongly influences her current work, where she tries to incorporate fabric into every piece she makes. She has later moved to Germany to pursue her career as an architect and to continue to work on her furniture designs. Her aim is to bring her fascination with Sci-Fi films and Art Deco era into the furniture she creates, trying to combine the surrealism of the one with the timeless elegance of the other. She is always questioning the traditional functions of furniture and its components and wants to create pieces that do not limit the user’s imagination, but rather prompt it.
