About the Item

Harvey Guzzini arc floor lamp del 1970 Materials: Degrading acrylic shade in white, white interior. Long and curved adjustable chromed metal rod. Round base in white painted aluminium, painted with textured paint. The base is filled with cement to be used as a counterweight. Its base has a special feature, there is a recess in the shelf that acts either as a chrome-plated ashtray on top or as a storage space. Any type of bulb can be used, no specific one is preferred. Period: 1960s, 1970s - Mid-Century Modern. Designer: Harvey Guzzini design team, under the supervision of Luigi Massoni. Manufacturer: Harvey Guzzini, Recanati, Italy, now called iGuzzini. Other versions: This Harvey Guzzini Arc floor lamp was made with many other lampshades in different colours. Aluminium lampshades were also used. Composed of a double-layer thermoformed methacrylate shell, with a white interior. Not only is it an arc lamp, it is the name of this floor lamp: Arc. Height: 230 cm / 90.55". Width: 215 cm / 84,64" Lampshade: Ø 33 cm / 12.99" iGuzzini iGuzzini illuminazione was founded in June 1958 by Raimondo Guzzini (born 1928) under the name Harvey. Harvey comes from the famous movie 'Harvey' with James Stuart and the invisible rabbit Harvey from 1950. The initial production of enamelled copper objects was complemented by decorative lighting fixtures. In the early 1960s it became a family business when his five brothers joined the company. In 1962 Luigi Massoni was attracted to lead the design team. He worked for Fratelli Guzzini and Harvey Guzzini until 1976. Luigi Massoni designed many iconic lamps during that period. The company still exists and changed its name in 1974 to iGuzzini and in 1981 to iGuzzini illuminazione. Acrylic: often called by its commercial name: Perspex, Plexiglas, Crylux, Acrylite, Lucite, is a thermoplastic.
