Large Cone Glass Floor Lamp, Brendel West Germany 1970s
About the Item
Extraordinary and beautiful, This Mid-Century Modern German art glass floor lamp was designed by Hartmut Engel in 1979 and made in Berlin (West Germany) by Brendel & Loewig.
The photos show the lamp with a novelty oversize bulb, however, it will work with any E27 bulb. It has been re-wired to work in Europe or the USA.
It features a conical transparent glass shade. While clear, the glass has a very subtle green tint. It also slightly distorts when looking through it for an attractive imperfection.
The lamp has characteristics that remind us of the masters of Italian lighting from the 60s and 70s. It has a touch of Industrial Design with the steel construction and exposed hardware, but a sublime attention to detail.
