Large lighted geometric abstraction sculpture / floor lamp 'obscurite' by architect / artist / designer Raphael "Pangilinan in yellow pine, mylar and LED lights. Pieces can be commissioned and custom made to suit specific environments.
Raphael is a French-born Filipino Artist with extensive background in Architecture, Design, and interior
finishing. He creates original pieces by incorporating the use of indigenous, natural and modern
materials and allows the viewer to take a momentary step back from the normal perspective and experience intriguing visual and emotional responses through varying levels of illumination.
Raphael's latest work, the DISTORTED series is characterized by flawed or distorted shapes, each based on a series of avant-garde and endless geometric shapes. Each piece is made of wood with LED set within the center fold of the structure, enhancing both the anatomy and the natural hues of the wood. Among the themes being explored in his works are the relations between modernity and nature, man and environment, the past and future, dreams and hopes.
