Studio profile /description hettler.tüllmann is the collaboration of Berlin-based designer Katja Hettler and Miami-based, German architect Jula Tüllmann with a focus on contemporary furniture and interior design. Their designs aim at outstanding quality in material, comfort and sustainability. Their one-of-a-kind pieces are created in collaboration with cooperatives in Ethiopia and Malawi, while deeply respecting and supporting traditional and local manufacturing techniques. Materials and material research play an equally important role in hettler.tüllmann’s design process. Each project starts with a choice of a signature, low environmental-impact material. Focusing on recycled components or materials which are made out of fast growing resources the design-duo applies and uses them in unexpected and also unconventional ways. hettler.tüllmann is also part of the Makers Circle of the Shaker Museum in Upstate New York.
