Rare Vintage Postmodern Steel Floor Lamp with Fiberglass Reflector, Circa 1960s

About the Item

This sophisticated Mid-Century Modern floor lamp was realized in the United States circa 1950. It features a circular button-like base in brass from which two cylindrical black metal supports ascend. One rises from the center straight towards the ceiling where it culminates in a four sided cupped fiberglass shade with raised curved sides and a bulb in the center. Off-center there is another black enamel rod that takes a more circuitous path, winding upwards, before veering at nearly a right angle. At its end, there is a brass embellishment that attaches to another fiberglass shade that catches the light from below. With its graphic and idiosyncratic form, and beautiful mixture of modernist materials, this light would be a great addition to any style of interior from Classic Mid-Century Modern to Contemporary, to Postmodern.
