About the Item
Scandinavian rattan floor lamp, attributed to Taidetakomo Hakkarainen from the 1940s. Brass frame, rattan shade. Beautiful intricate brass details on the stem, typical to the period. Good vintage condition, minor patina and wear consistent with age and use.
Taidetakomo Antti Hakkarainen produced a great number of lamps and other decorative pieces in Finland in the early 1900s. The pieces were usually iron, bronze or brass and were all handmade in their factory in the middle of Helsinki. Their advertising slogan was "a place in the middle of the city". The shop was well known and respected and their products were sold to many public spaces, including the Council of State and churches.
