Smoke Grey / Gold Crystal Glass Floor Lamp Phenomena by Dechem Studio for Bomma

About the Item

Smoke grey / gold blown crystal glass floor lamp, Phenomena by Dechem Studio for Bomma. The name chosen for this BOMMA collection, inspired by basic geometric shapes, comes from the Greek word for ‘appearances.’ According to Plato’s teachings, phenomena are mere transient images of eternal and perfect forms and thus inherently unreal. A fitting name for objects made of glass – a material that is both rigid and flexible, as well as strong, yet fragile. These lighting fixtures, in an array of fascinating sizes, are hand-blown into custom-made forms that combine both clear and colored glass. The color gradient is created by being gradually blown into the molten mass, as if breathing life into this collection. The flawlessly smooth shape of the crystal light is accented by a sophisticated polished mounting, highlighting a perfect blend of materials and aesthetics. Design: Dechem Studio Materials: mouth-blown crystal glass product dimensions (diameter): 400 mm product dimensions (height): 1600 mm light source: led e27, max. 13 w bulb included: 1x e27, a60/a19 led, 8w, 800 lm, 2700k, ra90+ dimming: dimmable with triac; on demand dimmable with dali, rf/wifi, for information on dimming with other systems please contact us directly. product weight: ± 38 kg cable length: textile cable 1,8 m Notes: The glass parts of pebbles are mouth-blown thus the intensity of color and gradient may slightly vary. Made by hand, in Czech Republic. BOMMA: Founded in 2012, Bomma continually brings the traditional Czech glassmaking craft to new and dynamic levels. With centuries of glassmaking tradition in East Bohemia behind us, we are now advantaged by a rich pool of talent and top-level skills. Instead of simply maintaining these traditions, Bomma moves a step beyond and sets today’s highest standards of glassmaking. Our master craftsmen are backed by some 300 enthusiastic team members in a new and ultra-modern production facility that thrives on in-house technology. Bomma produces 6 tons of refined extra-clear crystal each and every day. Our high-tech bespoke machinery for precise melting and measuring allows our craftsmen reach their maximum potential for manual finishing, enhancing what was always great and making it splendid. Our designed-to- purpose technology lends itself to otherwise unachievable customization and color-blending. Bomma know-how opens its doors to designers, business partners and private clients who continually challenge our technical teams and craftsmen. Bomma emphasis on contemporary design, outstanding glass quality and detail brought them many awards and world-wide recognition in a surprisingly short period of time. We now enjoy an exceptional position in the market, as well as countless interesting projects and collaborations. DECHEM STUDIO: DECHEM studio was established in Prague in 2012 by Michaela Tomiskova and Jakub Jandourek. They first met at the Novy Bor School of Glass, where they both fell in love with this earliest synthesised material in human history. While Michaela went on to study product design at AAAD Prague and later worked for several acclaimed design studios, Jakub continued to hone his skills in the lighting industry, specialising in glass workmanship, technology, and manufacturing. Since establishing Dechem studio they have focused on product design and maintained a special attention to glass, exploring traditional Bohemian craft techniques and the surprising connections of its various forms. "Glass, just like people or trees, is perfectly capable of being shaped and formed. One can imprint just about anything into it, give it a form, capture a passing moment, breath a new life into it. Later it stiffens and freezes like a petrified fossil, like magma, like a witness. No one can move it. It is solid as a rock and if you urge it, it rather shatters into pieces than to surrender..."
