Swedish Gustavian, Painted Wood Single Torchiere
About the Item
Designed as a classical torchiere and meant to be wired for up lighting . This piece in carved and turned wood retains its old painted surface and appears to have been painted blue at one time then cream at some point after that. Created in Sweden to compliment the simple Gustavian style popular throughout the late 18th and 19th century in that country. This style expressed by simple clean lines, a reliance on classical forms and little to no surface ornamentation shows its full flower in this piece. Not currently wired but easily done so at the customers request for a slightly higher price.
