Turn of the Century French Wooden Floor Lamp
About the Item
Delicate and ornate, this carved wooden floor lamp brings an element of French whimsy to an interior. Made at the turn of the century, the design offers an elaborate interpretation of Neoclassical motifs. The fluted column of the base is hung with drapery and circled with a wreath of laurels; carved acanthus leaves, floral festoons and beading decorate the contoured form of the central pillar. The painted surface has weathered to an attractive patina of muted blue, moss green, cream and natural wood — with touches of the original gold leaf adding a lavish glimmer. Fully rewired for use.
