About the Item
Six beautiful mid-20th century wall lights by Gangkofner, made for Peill. Made around 1970 in Germany, Europe. Featuring a large clear white glass shade with stripes along the length of it. The light illuminates wonderful.

Each sculptural ceiling light consists of clear glass cubes on a square brass frame which beautifully reflects the light with a warm glow. The quality thick clear glass cubic shades have a Brutalist textured pattern at the bottom of each base, creating depth and a three-dimensional decorative effect. The shades screw by metal rings to the frame. Also designed to work as a wall light, this piece can be fitted through holes in the brass frame hidden beneath the glass shades. The dimensions of each glass cube are height 3.9" (10 cm), width 3.9" (10 cm), depth 3.9" (10 cm). Well-wired, in full working order and ready to use. - 1970s German Small Peill & Putzler Wall or Ceiling Glass Lights, 3 AvailableBy Peill & PutzlerLocated in London, GBUnusual 1970s German Peill & Putzler wall lights which could also be used as ceiling flush mounts for a small room perhaps a bathroom/cloackroom or along a hallway with a low ceiling. The circular glass shade is secured to the aluminium fitting with a bolt in the centre which sits inside the decorative chrome knob and disc. A single E27 screw in bulb sits within the shade. The design is wonderful with sandblasted oval-shaped lozenges which grow smaller and change shape towards the centre - "ever decreasing lozenges" - with the smallest one creating a flower around the chrome disc. I have seen this light attributed to Kalmar Lighting and Glashutte Limburg but I am pretty certain it's Peill & Putzler. I am happy to stand corrected if anyone knows better. In very good vintage condition with some small scratches to the chrome disc in the centre and the odd tiny mark to the sandblasted lozenges which are barely noticeable. Rewired by a professional electrician and in full working order. I also have one larger version which is 30cm in diameter with the exact same design on the Retro Living...Category
