Bat Wall Light Silver Plated Victorian Style very Decorative

About the Item

Silverplate wall light in the shape of a bat with two supports for candles. The bat was a very popular animal during the late 19th century and really inspired all Art Nouveau designers, most specifically some jewel designers such as Lalique who created a whole collection of jewels with this animal. Indeed, this animal was very mysterious in the global imaginary, half a bird but with hair instead of feathers, not entirely nocturnal or diurnal, surrounded by a complete universe of fantasy. Gothic Revival, an architectural style that drew its inspiration from medieval architecture and competed with the Neoclassical revivals in the United States and Great Britain, and earlier Notre Dame of Paris is considered one of the finest examples of French Gothic architecture, maybe her gargoyles inspired these bats wall lights. Good to know: as several pieces are available, it is a perfect way to make an interesting candle lighting set and very decorative and so aesthetic.
