Murano White and Gold Color Glass Wall Light and Sconces, 2000
About the Item
Refined and delicate design for this wall light in white and gold Murano glass with "pulegosa" workmanship.
The wall light has a brass structure, on which a beautiful white and gold Murano glass cup has been mounted in the upper part, which contains the light bulb, and in the lower part a beautiful brass horn. The appliques come from the Murano furnaces and are hand-blown. A beautiful striped brass profile is inserted between the Murano glass cup and the brass horn. The Pulegoso glass is a particular type of glass with a rough surface. It can be opaque or semi-transparent. Furthermore, it contains tiny bubbles inside. To get these bubbles, glassmakers add baking soda or oil to the molten glass. This process therefore releases carbon dioxide. According to tradition, Napoleone Martinuzzi is the inventor of this technique, in the early 1920s.
