Pair of French 19th Century Neoclassical St. Patinated Bronze and Ormolu Sconces
About the Item
An outstanding and unique pair of French 19th century Neo-Classical st. patinated bronze and ormolu sconces. Each four arm sconce is centered by a hexagonal patinated bronze backplate with a fine ormolu border and an impressive mask of a bearded man below a richly chased winged cherub holding a cluster of grapes in his hands and with elegantly scrolled pierced foliate palmette designs at the base. The arms display lovely curves adorned with fine foliate designs leading to tapered bobeches and fine mottled beaded candle cups.
