About the Item
Realized in the manner of the great Barovier e Toso, this stunning pair of modernist sconces were handblown in Murano, Italy- the island off the coast of Venice renowned for its superlative glass production. Offering a graphic silhouette with rostrato detailing- pointed protuberant conical forms emanating from the cylindrical exteriors of the translucent Murano glass- these sconces embody the verve and elan that discerning collectors of modernist Italian design adore. They are secured to square brass back plates via rectilinear supports. The brass offers a beautiful tonal and material counterpoint to the translucent Murano glass exhibited throughout. With their sculptural sensibility, beautiful glass quality and clean modernist lines, these sconces are as versatile as they are stunning, blending perfectly with any style of interior from classic Mid Century Modern to contemporary. They have been newly rewired to American standards and are in excellent vintage condition.
