About the Item

A very fine Pair of French, 19th Century Empire-Neoclassical style parcel-gilt and patinated bronze five-light wall lights (Sconces). The elongated dark patinated two-tone frames, each surmounted with a classical urn back-plate with floral wreaths and garlands flanked with a pair of ram heads and topped with an anthemion. The lower section issuing five scrolling candle-arms, each terminating with a circular drip-pan and candle-holder and surmounted with acanthus, floral festoons, drapery and rosette decorations. circa 1880-1890. Measures: Height: 34 1/2 inches (88 cm) Width: 18 3/4 inches (47.6 cm) Depth: 9 3/4 inches (24.8 cm).

    Repaired: Wall lights have been secured and re-enforced steel bar from behind, from top to bottom, securing the re-attachment of lower parts. Wear consistent with age and use. Minor losses. Minor fading. A truly beautiful and rare pair of wall lights. Some minor rubbing. Old restoration to bottom parts. Great quality gilt and fine quality.
