About the Item

Pressed glass and rosewood wall lamps, 1950s Scandinavian midcentury wall lights with amber glass, brass and rosewood in very good vintage condition. This beautiful pair of wall lights, each made up of a thick pressed glass shade, a brass arm and a rosewood wall plate. The glass shades are richly faceted and has a rich amber color with a slightly oily effect in the glass. Underneath the shades sits a circular rosewood piece, which holds the bulb socket. The shades are locked to the bulb socket by a ring screwed onto the bulb socket. The wall plate features an incorporated on/off switch, and the backside is fitted with a plastic 'hook' for mounting on the wall. You could also connect them directly to the existing hard-wiring without have to use a plug. When lit, the glass shades scatter the light towards the sides for a warm ambient feel, while the open top allows for direct light to emit upwards, visible as it projects a 'cone' of clearer light on the wall above each light. The beautiful amber tone in the glass slightly saturates the ambiance, creating a warm illumination. Perfect for framing a doorway, or mirror - lining a hall way, or for setting a cozy ambiance in a sitting area or in the bedroom as cozy bedside lights. A gorgeous pair of sconces with a 100% authentic midcentury feeling and in very good vintage condition, no chips or cracks in the glass. Please see the photos! All original, but rewired with 1.2 m (3' 11.2") white plastic cord, for safety and beauty and fitted with standard Euro style two-pin plug, which is easily changed to your specific plug. On/off switch placed on the base. Cleaned, labeled and packed in protective bag. Light source: Two bulbs, Edison screw-fittings (E14/E12 with adapter) Max 40 Watt each.
