Brass table lamp, the lamp holder is made of metal externally painted black and internally creamy white, has two attacks for direct light and indirect light, the lamp body can rotate 360 °, while the two brass bars are connected by a joint that allows you to adjust the height and turn the lamp to the right or left, all to be able to position it according to your wishes or your needs of furniture; the massive base is made with the "Bianco di Carrara" a type of marble that is extracted from the quarries of the Apuan Alps in the territory of Carrara (Italy), universally known as one of the most valuable marbles in the world. It is one of the varieties of the famous "Pietra viva" and it is not by chance that all the greatest sculptors and artists in history (Michelangelo, Donatello, Bernini, Canova) have created their most famous works with this excellent variety of marble, with such elegant colors that it seems almost ethereal. The lamp, which was built in an artisan workshop in Milan between 1960 and 1963 is in perfect style Stilnovo Diabolo model, a product 100% made in Italy. Founded in Milan by Bruno Gatta, in 1946, Stilnovo was for years the most important reality in the world of lighting equipment design. The Space Age Era, or Atomic Age, has been a very prolific couple of decades for design worldwide. Italy was no exceptions, with designers the likes of Joe Colombo, Goffredo Reggiani and Anna Castelli Ferrieri creating some timeless icons of which many are still produced to these days. But it wasn't all about resounding names: also lesser known designers created interesting pieces, often with a very personal and recognisable style. Amongst these certainly stands out Enrico Tronconi, whose area of interest was lighting design: he created several different pieces ranging from ceiling lamps and sconces to floor and table lamps. Most of them feature metal blades that resemble rocket propellers or air-cooled car engines. The present sconce, measuring 30cm in diameter, has indeed two wide blades painted in ochre and three smaller ones highlighted by a chrome coating. It is preserved in good conditions and only has minor signs of use; it's a stunning piece both when lit and when off.
