1970's Pair of Murano Lamps in Gilded Glass
About the Item
We present you this wonderful and rare pair of sleek and ultra-modern ovoid lamps! These can be positioned on the floor or on a high-side table to add a contemporary and chic touch to your interior. Dating back to the 1970s, these lamps are made of gilded glass and originate from Murano, Italy and they stand at a height of 62 cm.
Murano glass is renowned worldwide for its exquisite beauty and craftsmanship. It is a type of glass that is made on the Venetian island of Murano, located in the Venetian Lagoon, just off the coast of Venice, Italy. Its dates back to the late 13th century. Glassmaking on the island began as a response to a Venetian law that required all glassmakers to move their foundries to Murano to prevent the risk of fire in Venice. Over the centuries, Murano glassmakers developed unique techniques and styles, including Millefiori (a thousand flowers), filigree, and latticino. They are known for their exquisite glass sculptures, chandeliers, and decorative glassware. Murano glass is highly collectible and sought after by art enthusiasts and collectors. Antique and vintage Murano pieces, as well as contemporary works, are highly regarded.
