About the Item

This unusual vintage table or bedside lamp was designed and manufactured in Germany in the 1920s-1930s during the Bauhaus period. It is made of bronzed brass, has got an adjustable lamp shade in ivory colored opaline glass and a dark brown shiny streamline designed bakelite base. With original brass socket. Bauhaus design was an art and design school that existed in Germany from 1919 to 1933. It was founded by Walter Gropius and aimed to unite art and craftsmanship, creating a new aesthetic. Bauhaus design sought functional and minimalist design, where form and function became one. It emphasized the use of modern materials and techniques, as well as the collaboration between artists, craftsmen, and designers. The Bauhaus had a significant influence on the development of modern design and continues to impact architecture, furniture, graphic design, and art today. The light has been rewired with dark brown silk cord and ready for use in any country of the world. It comes with a standard continental European 2-pin plug and adapter for use in US. The light requires one E27 bulb (LED recommended).
