Art Nouveau Table Lamp in Sandstone by "Illums Bolighus", Copenhagen, 1930s
About the Item
Sculptural art nouveau table lamp made in Denmark in the 1930s and sold in "Illums Bolighus", Copenhagen. The base is made from sandstone and the front depicts the classical motif of a Faun or Pan eating grapes next to a young deer. The style is similar to Danish artists like Just Andersen, Axel Salto and Olaf Stæhr-Nielsen who all worked in ceramics around that time. The shade is a hand folded Le Klint that may be the original mounting. The lamp is a great example of early modernism in Danish design. Remains of sticker from "Illums Bolighus" underneath.
