Austrian Cold Painted Bronze Elephant Lamp
About the Item
A beautiful Austrian cold painted bronze lamp. The 16” tall lamp with middle eastern motif, feature a large, bronze elephant being ridden by a man, with colorful carpets draped over the elephant. A red and green glass chamber rests atop a gold pillow on the elephant's back. Enclosed by green and red glass, a bulb internally illuminates the chamber. The top of the chamber's dome roof is crowned by a crescent moon, with four trefoil windows encircling the dome.
Cold Painting is a technique employed in the painting of Austrian bronzes where sculptures were covered with enamel paint. The result is a very colorful figure or lamp.
