About the Item
A sculpture by day and a light sculpture by night, “Belle de Nuit” combines the delicacy of the thin metal bars and the bisque volumes with the practical and modern LED lighting technology.
An evolution from the battery charged version, the two larger sizes of “Belle de Nuit” are available with a more powerful LED in the electric version. The texture of the ceramic gives to each lamp its singularity.
The “Belle de Nuit” has its origin in the prototyping process of the “Belle de Jour” lamps. Valérie Maltaverne fell in love with the raw plastic 3D-printed models made in the course of devising/formulating the shape for the larger “Belle de Jour” and decided to have them produced on a smaller scale. The striped texture of the 3D prototype is replicated in the fine porcelain, made by a French master ceramicist.
“Belle de Nuit – Electric” family consists of two different sizes M and L and two ceramic textures, smooth or striped.
“Belle de Nuit” is part of the Akari Unfolded collection created by? the YMER&MALTA Studio for The Noguchi Museum to pay homage to the iconic Akari series by Isamu Noguchi. This collection was exhibited in 2018/2019 at The Noguchi Museum in New York.
“Belle de Nuit” is in a numbered edition and each piece has a "Certificate of Authenticity".
