About the Item

Late 19th century hand carved settee leg fashioned as a table lamp. The primitive yet detailed carving speaks to an era of craftmanship and quality. Retaining a beautiful patina, the carving represents small round berries and acanthus leaves. the beauty of the marks, scratches and mishandling over the years create a handsome patina enhanced by a fresh waxing. We have mounted it to an acrylic base and chosen French wiring where the electrical wire comes out directly from the lamp socket in the fashion of most European table and floor lamps. The cord is a black twisted rayon adding to the decorative elegance of the lamp. We source objects from all over the world that have fallen to the wayside to create beautiful table lamps. This settee leg is no exception. We have included an eggshell linen hard back lampshade to complete the look. There are four lamps available. Naturally there are some variations between each lamp.
