The ceramic body appears to be stable. Also near the fissures is an anomalous standing material of glaze and substrate. Perhaps the fissures and standing material are a result of initial creation of the lamp. The decoration on the body of the lamp seems to match common themes used in wood body lamps designed by Paul McCobb for Raymor. The overall shape of the lamp seems to match a cut glass lamp shown in 1951 advertisement of new lamps by a stable of designers at Raymor from that year.
