About the Item

In this listing you will find an exceptionally rare, limited edition Soviet Union Souvenir desk lamp - START. The lamp is made of metal in the early 1960s, inspired and devoted to the first flight to space by Yuri Gagarin on VOSTOK rocket. The Vostok rocket has played a special role in the history of the USSR space programme. It was this very vehicle that launched the Vostok-1 spacecraft with Yuri Gagarin onboard into orbit on 12 April 1961, for the first manned flight into outer space. This lamp is modeled to represent a copy of a real Vostok rocket, which is now exhibited at Exhibition of Achievements of the National Economy in Moscow. Original manufacturer label is still attached at the bottom of the lamp. Apart from exquisite craftsmanship, it features stunning ornaments of the astronauts on its base. Without any doubt, this is a true collector piece and a fantastic addition to any interior focusing on Space Age era. Made in Ukraine in 1960s. European plug it currently has could easily be replaced with the plug you need in your country, or you can use a simple power adapter. Lamp shows some signs of time and use, but there are no damages.
