Early 1900s French Neoclassical Reverse Painted Églomisé Lamps, Pair

About the Item

Pair of French Neoclassical style églomisé columnar lamps, c. 1910-1920. Gorgeous pair of table lamps in églomisé with two coordinating designs. One features cherub-like figures, the other maidens in classic draped attire, both resting upon similarly fashioned architectural elements. With the églomisé technique, the back side of the glass is painted (reverse painted) and gilded with gold paint resulting in a mirror-like, reflective finish. The brushed background in neutral gray-green adds softness and visual texture to the design. The pair is set upon identical floral form brass bases. They are in good condition noting some gilt loss to the raised rim part on the bodies and brass bases have age appropriate patina. They are in good working order. Stunning lamps with understated, quiet elegance. Base diameter is 7.25" and 22"h to top of socket.
