About the Item
An Elegant and Large Table Lamp in the style of Louis XVI, Gilt Bronze Acanthus Ornamentation
This table lamp features an interpretation of the classical column-based table lamp, consisting of natural and leaf ornaments. It consists of a triangular shaped base with acanthus detailing in gilt bronze, which continues upwards in a slender movement. At the top of the base, the column is re-imagined as consisting of natural elements, first as a collection of acanthus leaves, flowing in- and outwards in a bulbous shape. The fluting of a standard classical column is reinterpreted as large and slender acanthus leaves, which at the capital of the column flow in an outwards movement, seemingly referencing corinthian column capitals.
Includes black lacquer screen with golden edges which gives a warm glow when lit. Newly rewired electricity. Wear consistent with age and use.
