French 19th Century Louis XVI St. Ormolu And Marble Candelabra Lamp
About the Item
A charming and extremely elegant French 19th century Louis XVI st. ormolu and white Carrara marble candelabra lamp. The four arm lamp is raised by fine ormolu bun feet below the circular fluted white Carrara marble base with a lovely mottled band and adorned with rosettes, a beaded band, and stunning richly chased swaging floral garlands tied at the sides. Above is the charming ormolu cherub raised on a ground like base with a tree trunk and draped in animal fur. He holds one hand up to his face in a pensive manner with the other leaning on the beautiful wonderfully executed vine like arms adorned with lovely grapes leading upwards to the superb finely detailed floral bobeches and foliate spiral fluted candle cups in a rich satin and burnished finish. All original gilt throughout.
