About the Item
Rare oval shaped Kähler ceramic table lamp with the Classic blue Kähler glaze from Denmark in the 1960s.
Kähler Keramik is a Danish ceramic company, originally from Næstved.
Kähler's ceramics started with the production of tiled stoves and kitchenware. Since the 1880s, the company has produced art ceramics.
Great ceramicists have worked for Kähler over time, e.g. Karl Hansen Reistrup, Thorvald Bindesbøll and L.A. Ring.
The story of Kähler started back in 1839, when the Holstein potter Herman Kähler opened a small ceramic workshop in Næstved. The son Herman A. Kähler later made the factory on Kählersbakken famous. Since then, the craftsmanship experience has been passed on from generation to generation.
Kähler has contributed decorations to, for example, Copenhagen City Hall, Aarhus Theater and the National Archives in Viborg.
