Lamp Prismar by Gruppo A.R.D.I.T.I for Nucleo Sormani, Italy 1970's

About the Item

Prismar table lamp by Italian design group Studio A.R.D.I.T.I. for Nucleo Sormani, 1970s The Piccola version, 24.7 x 21.5 x 21.5 cm, with damage mark on one of the glass panels Manufacturer's stamp on the bottom side Vintage wiring, 2-pin European plug, on/off switch The lamp has a single E27 lamp-socket Condition - good vintage condition, one of the glass panels has a damage/repair mark - as pictured in detailed photos When buying the Prismar lamps it is important to buy the lamps that have original glass. The original glass is very special, and new substitutes are not as good as this glass. The original glass is two-sided mirrored glass. Italian design group Studio A.R.D.I.T.I. was an influential player in the Italian anti-design movement from 1968, when it was founded, until 1977, when the group was disbanded. Although less known than other radical design collectives of the postmodern era, such as Memphis and Alchimia, Studio A.R.D.I.T.I. developed a series of influential design objects during the 1970s that were informed by a new philosophy of use. Their innovative and avantgarde lighting designs, including the Prismar lamp, are now in the permanent collections of leading museums, including MoMA, the Centre Pompidou, and the Vitra Design Museum.
