This is a large antique feature lamp. An Italian, gilt metal and marble heavy table light, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1900.
Striking and substantial, with superb decorative appeal
Displaying a desirable aged patina and in good order
Gilt metal vase form profuse with fascinating detail
Quality black Portoro marble base with white vein interest
In classical vase form, with two caryatid figures as vestigial handles
To the main body, relief figures engage in sword fights upon frieze panels
Foliate and scroll motif throughout continues the neo-classical decor
Fascinating miniature portrait masks adorn the stem below lobed detail
Pleasingly heavy in the hand at a weight of 11.8kg (26 lb)
Accepts a standard small bayonet bulb, situated under the broad pleated shade
Dressed with a generous length of cable, with British Standards compliant UK 3-pin plug (Type G)
