Large Striped Ceramic Straight Walled Lamp
About the Item
It starts off with 1kg of clay for both the top and bottom of the lamp. Thrown on the potters wheel they are left to dry overnight and trimmed, smoothed and fitted together the next day. It's during this process that the fit is adjusted and the correct diameter holes are drilled for the light socket and integrated switch. As they slowly dry in the studio they are shuffled around so they can dry evenly. After a couple of weeks they are loaded into the kiln and fired to 2160 degrees fahrenheit. The lamps are then removed and bottoms sanded smoothed.
Each piece is handmade and thus there may be small differences piece to piece.
All lights are wired with UL certified sockets and switches.

Bruce Ceramics
Daniel grew up in the Pacific Northwest in the town of Woodinville Washington. It was there he learned to work with his hands at his fathers business. He discovered ceramics in college and the rest is history. He currently works out of his Southern California home studio where he makes each lamp on the potters wheel. This current collection focuses on lamps made from earthenware. The design is heavily influenced by the modern and mid-century movements of the early 20th century.
