Mid Century Modern Italian Articulating Fiberglass Desk Lamp Rotate Teak Switch!

Hyper Rare!! Mid Century Modern Italian Designed Articulating Desk Lamp Fiberglass Shade Brushed Brass Finish In the manner of Maurizio Tempestini Here is a marvelous Italian designed desk lamp with an exquisite rotating teak turn switch! We've never seen anything quite like this before! An articulating fiberglass desk lamp with an enormous rotating teak switch on the base that turns the lamp on or off! Incredible design! This dates to the mid-fifties when Italian designers were working hand in glove with US lamp manufacturers to produce stylish and modern lighting for an increasingly competitive marketplace! Lamp is in fine vintage condition. Fiberglass shade with a grass cloth motif is still in great shape. Teak wood switch still gleams in the light! The brushed brass base shows a some spots of wear, but still presents beautifully, The lamp shade is held in place Italian-style with a rotating ring. Rotating the teak switch turns the lamp on and then off! We have not seen another of these in the marketplace and you can bet they were scarce new and are incredible finds today! Exclusivity is assured! Definitely a decorator piece for a worthy interior! This will fabulous addition to your NY penthouse, Palm Springs atomic ranch or West Palm Beach estate!

It is one of the most coveted MOSS lamps for its comparative restraint and timeless design! This reflector lamp is the epitome of modern illumination thought circa 1945-1955! Designers were experimenting with ways to create *indirect lighting* because studies illustrated this was better for the eyes. The MOMA Lighting Design competition of 1951 would almost exclusively showcase designs that were based on reflection technology. This beautiful lamp features a sweeping brushed brass neck and articulating fiberglass shade reflector. The black enameled cone is complemented by a matching black decorative trim on the base. It is in very fine vintage condition. It has light age-appropriate wear. It presents splendidly, This lamp creates a warm cozy space in any interior. Moss lamps were more about mood than function.
