About the Item

This beautiful midcentury Italian handcrafted Murano glass table lamp from Venetia was manufactured in the 1950s. The table light is made out of red Murano glass, coated in 24-karat golden foil, with a technic called "cordonato", meaning corded. The bowl-shaped upper body connects with the funnel-shaped lower body which is separated through a delicate glass ring in the middle of the lamp. Each glass element is mouthblown and handmade. In the detailed images, you can see the colorful spectrum of the Murano manufacturer. This is to be said among the most colorful and beautiful crafted glass in the world. The table lamp comes together with a certificate of authenticity. The Manufacturer of this beautiful piece of art is called Avem and was founded in 1932 when a group of master glassblowers decided to open a new glass factory, A.V.E.M. The founding partners were Antonio Ferro with his sons Egidio and Ottone, Galliano Ferro and Emilio Nason. Giulio Radi, coming from Murano island, joined the firm as art director. He was responsible for an in-depth work of research into the reaction of metal oxides on glass, on using murrine, gold and silver powders, combined with very simple shapes, tending to emphasize the material.
