Mint green sculptural desk lamp, enamelled metal, wood and brass, France, 1950's
This desk lamp is as elegant as it is functional. It's unusual color, graceful lines and masterful proportions are remarkable and unusual. Skillfully made and deftly designed, the lamp is a mix of stylish French nuance and refined industrial design. The shade swivels and tilts. The height of the lamp is controlled by the painted wood knob which adjusts the shade's relative up/down position thanks to its pivoting round joint that is itself a well thought through aspect of the lamps function and appearance.
The piece has a desirable patina that shows the traces of time on its materiality while maintaining a graceful appearance.
