Modernist Hand Blown Murano Hive Form Table Lamp in Mercury Glass
About the Item
This stunning and graphic modernist table lamp was realized in Murano, Italy- the island off the coast of Venice renowned for centuries for its superlative glass production- during the latter half of the 20th century. It features a "hive form" consisting of an undulating ringed body that recalls the shape of a bee's nest- all executed in a lustrous, mirror-like mercury glass. Combining the economy of form of the Machine Age and the verve and graphic sensibility of Memphis, this piece is as versatile as it is aesthetically compelling. It would be a winning addition to any style of interior from Classic Mid-Century Modern to contemporary. It has been newly rewired to American standards and is in excellent condition. It comes fitted with a custom shade.
