Pair of Chinese Ceramic Lamps 'Without Lampshade'

About the Item

Exceptional pair of Chinese ceramic table lamps; they were obtained from two large vases on which the electrical part was mounted by covering the mouth of the vase with a brass plate on which a stem is attached to the top of which the lamp holder is attached; a convenient feature is that the height of the brass stem can be changed as desired; the two vases were made from excellent Chinese ceramic, they have a very refined and elegant shape, the strong red color that fades from the base to the top, makes the two objects sleek and pleasant, an innovative and harmonious whole, the result of careful and intelligent aesthetic reflection. In these lamps, quality, elegance, and Fine workmanship take center stage. Here the designer's creativity and craftsmanship come together in an exclusive product, a unique and elegant modern furnishing accessory. The mark, in ancient Chinese letters, stamped on the bottom tells us with absolute precision that the vases were produced between 1950 and 1970 in kilns in Jingdezhen, China. In China, the name Jingdezhen is practically synonymous with pottery. The city is said to have produced Fine wares for official use as early as the 6th Century AD and is known to have continued to produce excellent wares during various dynasties (Tang, Song, Nan). Under the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), Jingdezhen began to produce high-quality items on a large scale for the use of the imperial family and the government in general. Throughout the Ming period Jingdezhen, rather than an imperial factory, was the center of procurement on behalf of the government. The ceramic industry flourished during this period, producing goods of superlative quality. The Ming and Qing dynasties took the porcelain industry to an exceptional level, and Jingdezhen established its primary position in the world of Chinese ceramics and porcelain. With the establishment of the People's Republic of China (1949), the Jingdezhen factory was rebuilt with the goal of creating Quin Guan ware by adopting the Republic's operating system with the development of the nation's systemization. The ceramic industry was reorganized in those years in the form of cooperative associations and resumed production on a larger scale than ever before; in addition to domestic porcelain, the city has also been producing a wide range of other excellent traditional ceramic products and other modern designs since 1950. The locality of the former imperial kiln has become a site of ceramic kilns that have many advantages and innovations and reflect advanced techniques; the many products embody the aesthetic taste of traditional Chinese culture and represent the most complete Industrial system of porcelain and ceramic handicrafts in China. The lamps are in good condition. The electrical system is working but the wiring is European, voltage compatibility in other states should always be checked by an electrician before use. For all our shipments we use special packing materials (wooden crates, styrofoam, etc.) for maximum protection and safety of the items.

We kindly suggest you read the whole description, because with it we try to give you detailed technical and historical information to guarantee the authenticity of our objects. Elegant and linear lamp in nickel and gilded brass; the solid round base with two steps, supports a brass sphere from which departs a stem with a refined, harmonious, and proportioned shape; at the top of the stem, there is a small but massive brass disk above which was placed the point of light with the attack for a lampshade (not supplied). The lamp was produced in Paris between 1960 and 1964 in a laboratory for the metalworking, it was a very well-equipped and specialized laboratory because the polishing and finishing of the two metals used were obtained with precision and meticulousness of the highest level; in the process of polishing the piece was worked with wheels of natural ?bre, combined with a very fine abrasive paste, then using other types of wheels it was possible to obtain a perfect polishing so that even the reflection of light becomes more uniform, giving the surface in question the typical bright appearance. These master craftsmen have made the lamp with their own design in Mazda style, by the concession of the Mazda Company itself without being able to affix the brand but following strict production patterns, the original table lamp style "Mazda Lamp" fascinates for its Parisian design of the thirties, simple and functional Art Deco; The successful combination of these mixed materials and refined colors have created a preciousness rich in contrast but very harmonious; in this lamp quality, elegance and fine workmanship are the focus of attention. Here the creativity of the designer and the art of craftsmanship come together to create an exclusive product, a unique modern furnishing accessory, refined and elegant at the same time, which adapts naturally and simply to both contemporary and classic environments. Mazda is a brand created within General Electric in 1909 and in addition to incandescent bulbs, had a prolific production of lighting and furniture of the highest quality, was chosen this name because of its association with the deity Ahura Mazda...
