Pair of French 19th Century Louis XVI St. Bronze, Ormolu and Marble Lamps
About the Item
An impressive pair of French 19th century Louis XVI st. patinated bronze, ormolu, and Vert de Patricia marble candelabra lamps. Each six arm lamp is raised by a square Vert de Patricia marble base with fine ormolu ball feet and a richly chased wrap around foliate band. The square patinated bronze pedestal support displays four intricately detailed plaques of gladiators in horse-drawn chariots, centurions on horse back and Romans transporting supplies on an elephant. Above a fine square support with a mottled border and finely detailed foliate designs in a striking satin and burnished finish is the circular tapered fluted central support leading to the arms above. Each of the six arms displays an elegant curved design adorned with superb richly chased acanthus leaves leading to lovely foliate bobeches and acanthus leaf candle cups centering the striking central spray with a top acorn finial all in an exceptional satin and burnished finish. All original gilt throughout.
