Pair of French 19th Century Louis XVI St. Ormolu Candlestick Lamps
About the Item
An elegant and high quality pair of French 19th century Louis XVI st. ormolu candlestick lamps after a model by Jean-François Remond. Each lamp is raised by a circular base with a mottled border, a fine fitted wrap around beaded band, and superb acanthus leaves. The tapered central support displays three striking richly chased beautiful maidens standing draped in flowing attire with a mask of a handsome man amidst wonderfully executed swaging floral garlands. Above is an urn shaped reserve raised by three scrolled supports with paw feet and lion heads centering the fine reeded body below a lovely foliate and beaded wrap around band.
