About the Item

A pair of rare night lamps, designed by the renowned Danish lighting designer Svend Aage Holm Sørensen in the early 1960s. The lamps are model 4151 and were produced by Holm Sørensen & Co. They feature orange wood bases and white glass shades in a unique cubic shape The lamps are in good vintage condition, with intact labels and very fine white glass shades. However, there is some tear-off paint on both wood bases. The lamps are mounted with approximately 2 meter cords with switches and require a max 25 W E14 screw bulb. These lamps are perfect for use as night lamps or on a desk. It is a rare design highly sought-after Svend Aage Holm Sørensen. ********* Svend Aage Holm Sørensen (1913-2004) was a Danish industrial designer and architect educated from he Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, who made significant contributions to the development of modernist design in Denmark. Holm Sørensen's designs were characterized by their simplicity, elegance, and functionality, and he was particularly known for his work in lighting design. He was a true master of modernist design, and his work was characterized by his experimental approach to materials and form. He was known for his innovative use of materials such as glass, wood, metal, and even flame cut brass, which he combined in unexpected and striking ways to create unique and memorable designs. Holm Sørensen's legacy as a designer continues to be celebrated today, and his designs remain popular with collectors and enthusiasts of modernist design around the world.
