Porcelain de Paris Napoleon III French Pair of Petrol Lamps with Lampshade

About the Item

Originally these lamps were oil lamps (the upper part was the container of the liquid), over time the mechanism with the wick has been modified in order to electrify them, so they have recently been supplied with handmade lampshades to make them more comfortable and modern use, the lampshades have been carefully chosen in shape and colors to match them in a sober and refined way with the lamps themselves; the finishing touches are gilded bronze that time has blackened; the body is in Fine French porcelain ("Porcelain de Paris") with delicate hand painted floral and leaf decorations. The pieces were made between 1880 and 1885 respecting ancient traditions and the raw material (kaolin) by master craftsmen. “Porcelain de Paris” is a term that refers collectively to the various porcelain decorating workshops and studios within and around Paris, France. It is not the name of any single company or producer and is usually applied to Craft objects of excellent workmanship produced between the mid and late nineteenth century. The makers are in some cases obscure and generally unknown or have created only a few and rare pieces. Antique porcelain objects from Paris are the most desired by collectors and are present in many museums around the world. Measures with lampshade D.cm.32 H.cm.53. On request we can also supply them without the lampshade at a price of € 1550, the measures are as follows: D.cm.17 H.cm.37. Warning: the electrical system is new but the wiring is European, the compatibility of the voltage in other states must always be verified by an electrician before use.
